Dear Member,

We are privileged this year to host the prestigious North American
Bengali Conference in July 2009. You are aware that this is an annual
conference held in different cities in North America on Independence
Day holiday. Numerous Bengalis from around North America attend this
conference. This is also the melting pot for artists from the West and
the East alike. Each year approximately 6000 Bengalis attend this
conference. The conference serves the social, cultural and business
needs of Bengalis across the world, specially those living in USA and
Canada. Prabasi has the unique distinction of hosting this conference
twice in the past. We get an opportunity to host this conference
approximately once in 10 years. This conference is held about twice in
the West Coast (San Fraancisco and Los Angeles) within a period of 10

We are doing our best to produce the best Bengali Conference ever. The
last time we hosted this conference in 1999, it was the talk of the
country for a long time. Our caliber to produce a good show has been
proved in the past, and we are making every attempt to set new
standards again.

The conference will be held in the San Jose McEnery Convention Center
from July 2 to July 4, 2009.

  Thankamani Kutty, A unique fusion dance event of classical dance 
  rendition of Tagore songs enhanced with Taal and Bole from the
  classical dance forms of Oddissi, Katthak and Bharatnatyam)

* Classical Vocal (Pt. Ajoy Chakravarty, Pt. Santanu Bandyopadhyay,
  Raghab Chattopadhyay, Saunak Chattopadhyay)

* Classical Instrumental - (Ustad Shahid Parvez, Sisirkana Dhar
  Chowdhury, Purbayan Chatterjee)

* Natok - Kanchanranga -- famous creation of Sambhu Mitra -- the
  contemporary version will be directed by well know stage and film
  artist Biplab Chatterjee.)

* Recitation/musical-audio visual - (Sumantra Sengupta and team)

* One act Drama competition (Six teams from various parts of North

A show of this magnitude cannot be successful without the
