Dear Member,


Durga Puja is just six weeks away and this is also a reminder for all
those who have not renewed their membership that the last date for
getting the discounted rate is September 30, 2007. The allocation of
good seats for the professional programs is done based on who renews
their membership first. So please do not delay your membership
renewal, if you have been thinking about it for a while. It is easy to
get started. Please visit to begin. You
will also find a direct link to your account in one of our earlier emails.

The first row in the Performance Center auditorium will be ticketed
for $100/seat in addition to your membership fees for the Durga Puja
events. For members this seat will be reserved for all the three days
. For non-members it will be only on the basis of per show.

Durga Puja is a community affair and we need community help. We would
appreciate sponsors for the following items:

Saturday Kichuri Bhog for Public - $2500
Flowers for Anjali and Puja -      $500
For all three days
Prasad for all three days -        $600
Puja (Friday/Sunday) -	           $500
Puja (Saturday)-                   $1000

Members who would sponsor any of the above will have their name
published in our Sankha Magazine for their contribution and dedication
to Prabasi. Sponsorship check should reach the treasurer before the
Sep 30th 2007.

Also we are looking for ads for our Sankha Magazine. Anyone collecting
ad above $3000 will get two front row tickets free. The advertisement

Upon requests from some of our members, Prabasi Board decided to
postpone the General Body Meeting to Sep 30th 2007 because previously
announced Sep 1st being a long weekend. GBM will be from 1 PM to 4 PM
 in Hewlett Packard Auditorium - Oak Room at Cupertino site. Address

During this GBM, Prabasi BODs will present FY2006 performance with
income/expense report. BODs will also present its vision for Prabasi
going forward along with any new developments. We would encourage all
members to attend the meeting and also share your ideas and vision
with Prabasi BODs. Free snacks will be provided.


Bay Area Prabasi is collecting articles for this year's Shankha
magazine, to be published during Durga Puja 2007. If you are
interested in writing or have a friend who might be, please fax your
article to our Shankha editor Sunil Ghosh at (415)369 0894 or email

Please send in your articles before Sep 15th, 2007. Anything sent
after this date cannot be guaranteed for this year's publication. 

We look forward to your active participation in submitting articles
for the magazine.

Prabasi for the first time will host a Bangla workshop for Children 
age (6~13)  of our community  and the greater community. The objective
of the workshop is to have students actively participate in learning
and discerning Bengali language, music, and arts/ crafts to develop
some introductory oral skills in Bengali. This workshop has been
developed by Samita Sen (experienced teacher) and Anurupa Chakraborty
(talented artist and musician).

	Socially appropriate greetings
	Bengali rhymes with comprehension
	Bengal Arts and Craft
Students will demonstrate their newly acquired Bengali language oral
skills in a culmination performance for parents and guests at the end
of session (4 to 6 weeks period).

Tuition fees/student: $250 for 18 hours of hands on training (spread
in 4-6 weeks).It will be in the evening once/twice a week. Prabasi
Patron members will get 10% discount per child per family.
At this moment we are soliciting students for this workshop. We intend
to start this workshop within a month or so. The number of student
will be limited for this workshop. We, therefore, encourage early
response from you if you are interested. The classroom location and
instruction timing will be announced based upon the response we get.
Our ultimate goal is to host Bengali language class for our kids. We
hope this Bangla workshop would generate strong motivation to our kids
for the Bengali language class.
