Subject: Communiqué from Prabasi Chairman
Dated: Sep 20, 2005
Dear Member,

In continuation of my communication with Prabasi members, I am sending
this e-mail to all of you in order to provide some general information
as well as some specific information regarding the forthcoming Durga
Puja. But before I do that I would like to convey my sincere thanks
to those of you who have contacted me after my previous letter and
given me several good ideas. This clearly demonstrates that you care
about Prabasi and it is through this process that we will be able to
make Prabasi a friendly and a stronger organization. I encourage
everybody to contact me or other members of the board with any
suggestions you may have.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Seeing the trend in the past couple of years, Prabasi board had made a
decision that we are going to have two days of Durga Puja instead of
three, thereby eliminating events on Friday.

Only about 30% of our members attend the festivities on that day and
the expenses of approximately $7K, which includes the rental of the
Chabot College, could not be justified. As an alternative for our
members, we will make the Annual Day event more attractive by
organizing excellent cultural programs.

Similarly, we had also decided not to have Kali Puja this year, since
only about 30% of our members participate in this event. However, we
have received several phone calls from our members who have
recommended that we should observe it but in a smaller scale, because
this celebration by Prabasi is a unique feature and should remain as a
tradition.

Respecting the views of our members, we have reconsidered our decision
and I am happy to announce that we will celebrate Kali Puja this year
and the date has been set tentatively for Nov.5, 2005 at the Sunnyvale
Temple. More information will be forthcoming in my next email.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION ON DURGA PUJA

We are extremely pleased by the quality of our cultural program that
we have been able to organize. Our members and guests will have a
great time at various events. Here is a brief synopsis of the various
programs by both Professional Artists as well as our Local Talents:

voice accompanied by live orchestra from Mumbai. He is a great
performer and his high-energy rhythm songs will be of special
attraction. I am sure all of you will be enjoying his selections.
