Dear Member,

Saraswati Puja, our next gathering, is on January 31st. It will be held
at Foothill  College from 11:00am and will continue till late night.
The celebrations will include Puja, Bhog/Prasad, Cultural Programs.
Free Dinner will be available for Donors and Sponsors. All details are
on our web-site 
Special attractions include a drama "Swami Vivekananda" by Bay Area
Youth directed by Sushmita Datta and Sushmita Bhattacharya.

A local musical group "Gorer-maath" will present a medley of songs
along with live band. Gorer-maath brings to you contemporary Bengali
music. Inspired by the works of legendary Late Gautam Chattopadhyay,
Gorer-maath renders songs in their unique style. Their influences
include Latin American beats, Bengali folk (baul), rock and of course,
the rich heritage of Indian modern songs. Their repertoire consists of
the pioneering works of urban Bengali music including their own
experimental creations, that is both refreshing and unique to Bengali

Please Note: There is a $15 event fee for non-members and guests of
members for attending the Cultural Programs.


We are going to have a children's talent show - children's performance
during Saraswati Puja 2004 on Saturday, January 31st between 3:00pm to
4:15pm in the main auditorium.

Here are the categories:
Song -         3 minutes
Group Song -  10 minutes
Solo Dance -   5 minutes
Group dance - 10 minutes
Monologues -   2 minutes
Recitation -   2 minutes
Musical instrument - 3-5 minutes
(violin, flute, guitar, trumpet, keyboard etc)

Children's program will start on Saturday, January 31st, exactly at
3:00pm in the main auditorium. Parents and performers need to report
backstage between 2:30pm-2:40pm. If CDs or Cassettes need to be played,
please bring them with your name and the performance item written on

If you are passing out of high school to college this year, please
contact Surajit Sengupta at 408-973-1294. Prabasi will honor graduates
this year at Saraswati Puja.
