Dear Member,

As announced earlier, this year's Annual Day on the occasion of
Boishaki will be held on June 1st, 2003 at Mission San Jose High
School, Fremont. This program comprising of food (chaat, luchi,
mangsho, mishti), music, entertainment, art, shopping, movie, and adda
is FREE for all attendees. To make is specially attractive for
children, we are announcing special events for children as given


Calling on all children for Ananda Mela Children's Center !

1) Fun Frolic and... yes, you got it! FACE PAINTING! Talented young
Bay Area teens will be volunteering to do face painting for the young
and the restless...

2) Drawing and Coloring Center: For the artistically inclined, we will
have drawing and coloring available. Every 30 mins, two art pieces
will be selected and displayed on a wall of honor.

3) There will be an Art contest and  Poetry/Essay writing contest
(judged by by age and/or grade),  All entries must be sent by May 15th

Winners and Honorable Mentions will be announced and displayed on the
wall of honor.

    A) The theme for ART entries for the art contest will be: 'Ananda
    Mela - a Spring Festival!!'
    Please be sure to include your name, age and grade at the back of
    your art entry.

    B1) Literature entries for 3rd grade and under:
    Theme: 'Spring - a time for Ananda, Fun and Frolic'. A story (2
    pages max) or poetry (1 page max.)

    B2) Literature entries for 4th, 5th and 6th:
    Theme: 'Poila Baisakh (Bengali New Year) - what a celebration in
    Spring' poetry (2 page max.) or an essay (4 pages max.)

    C) Literature entries for 7th and 8th:
    Theme: 'Poila Baisakh (Bengali New Year) - Any new year
    resolutions? What are your aspirations?' Poetry (2 page max.) or
    an essay (4 pages max.)

    D) Literature entries for 9th - 12th:
    Theme: 'Will the Bengali New Year bring peace and hope? What would
    you hope for, the most?'
    'How do you aspire to achieve the maximum enrichment in your life,
    while living amidst two very diverse cultures - Indian and
    American? What are your aspirations? Have you met them yet?'
    Poetry (4 page max.) or an essay (4-5 pages max.)

Please pass this on to all Bay Area children within your friend circle
who may be interested to participate.
