Dear Member,

Saraswati Puja 2003 is just one weekend away. Prabasi is pleased to
extend you a warm welcome to attend Saraswati Puja for the year 2003
at Sunnyvale Hindu Temple on Sunday, February 9, 2003  starting from
11:00am. Our focus this year is to promote participation by children.
In the afternoon you can watch several dance programs and songs by
children, and a spectacular drama, also acted by children.

Saraswati Puja and its associated cultural program is free for Prabasi
annual members and patrons.

Bay Area Prabasi is announcing that there  are 8 positions available
this year for election during Saraswati Puja for Prabasi's Board-of-
Director. Members are hereby requested to fill in the
Election/Nomination Form from the Web page at If
you are interested to serve as a Director in Bay Area Prabasi, you
apply after reading the pre-qualification needed to become a Board of
Director. The pre-qualifications are given at 
Election Form, duly signed by two members, should be filled up and
faxed to 408-629-1511 before Jan 31, 2003. Today is therefore the
last day of application.

Bone Marrow Transplant
Dr. Shakuntala Sarkar, a Philadelphia area Bengali woman in her
forties, a mother of two, an extraordinary individual dedicated to her
work, family and community - has been diagnosed with lymphoma. She is
in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant. Without a successful
marrow transplant, she probably has a year to live. But with a
successful transplant, she could extend her life significantly, or
even be cured.

Bengal Development Foundation
Bengal Development Foundation is a non profit tax exempt organisation
with a tax ID 30-00116655. It will give scholarships to poor and
meritorious Engineering and Medical 2nd, 3rd & 4th year students of W
Bengal. With your generous donation, we are hoping to raise $30k this
academic year.
