Dated: Jan 24, 2002
Dear Member,

The following letter was sent by snail-mail at the beginning of this
week to all confirmed members. You may have already received this mail
by now, but in case you haven't, here it is once again for your

On behalf of the Prabasi Board of Directors, let me begin by wishing
all of you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

All our members will attest to the fact that 2001 was a very
successful year for Prabasi, in that, we were able to organize and
present the yearly events in a timely, coordinated, and efficient way.
It is our desire and commitment to our Prabasi community with each
passing year, not just to sustain our prior performance, but to
surpass it.

In that vein, let us begin the year by inviting you all to celebrate
Prabasi's semi-annual day celebration which also coincides with
India's republic day on the 26th of January, at Spangenberg
Auditorium, Gunn High School, Palo Alto (show will begin promptly at
5PM since we will have a number of city officials and Indian
dignitaries to grace the occasion). We plan on having a social hour
for members (from 4-5PM..tea and snacks will be served for all). The
next event will be Saraswati puja to be held at Sunnyvale Hindu temple
on the 16th of February.

With the current economic situation unfolding in the valley, Prabasi
will also be taking a few cost reduction measures. As discussed during
the annual board meeting (Kali puja, 2001), this will be one of the
last mailed communications to our members. Henceforth, we will be using
email as the main method of communication with members. Members who do
not have access to email are requested to contact me (at 408-844-9441)
so that we can figure out an alternate way of informing you of
upcoming events. As always, the latest information will also be
available on our website ( I take this
opportunity to urge all members to update your email address and
home address information via our website.
Wishing you all a successful, safe, and happy 2002 once again,

Reema Mukherjee.
