BAY AREA PRABASI is a membership based non-profit socio-cultural organization of the Bengalis of the San Francisco Bay Area, founded in 1974. Our mission is to promote and contribute to the charitable, religious, literary and educational activities with particular emphasis on the heritage of Bengal. The organization is governed by an elected Executive board of directors and the Board is responsible for the basic functions of the organization, including the Articles, Bylaws, and major decisions relating to organizational form as well as membership matters, broad policy decisions, and matters of general importance to the overall group organization. Join us to celebrate the quintessential Bengali occasions, grow a deeper appreciation of our heritage and stand beside others when help is needed. Become a part of the Prabasi family today!

Bay Area Prabasi has committed to supporting our members and community through this crisis. We have set up a hotline to respond to our member’s needs, partnered with Grocery on Wheels and Meat Corner for expedited grocery delivery, and our volunteers are working 24/7 to assist. We have also worked with manufacturers to secure medical supplies for our frontline healthcare workers and already completed the first donation drive.

Our General Body meetings are held annually where we discuss our overall organization performance, annual plans and accounting for the current calendar year. This is also a great forum for members to share their suggestions and engage in a meaningful question/answer session with the Executive Board.
